Mod versions may or may not be an issue, especially for something constantly being developed that may introduce some serious bug in most recent version. Unless the game offers some "old version" beta slot you set it to, your main installation will always be kept up to date - steam removed the option for you to have control over that. ![]() Steam will force your game to update even if you postpone it immediately. ![]() However, once you do put that little bit of effort, having mods that you can manually install gives you, and only you, full control over your game and its state. I get it that people want the "least effort required" approach, and some (or maybe a lot) simply don't want to have to learn how to manually install their mods for every game they play (though then you can argue those modded games last for months, if not years, so it's not exactly a constant learning requirement). And this is a general comment about mods on Steam, not something limited to Bannerlord alone.
